Okay everyone, January is over and that means the whole, “new year, new me” is over as well. At least until next year. It is officially time to cancel the gym membership, quit posting tons of snap stories about how “fit” you are in your gym clothes standing in a mirror, instead of actually working out. February is here and that means chocolate and sweets galore “for Valentine’s day” but really we celebrate the whole month with cakes on cakes on cakes. Here are a few of the best bakeries in the Oklahoma City area to help you really indulge to your full potential:
PIE JUNKIE- Get the feel of your grandmother’s homemade pie without the stress and mess. These two moms specialize in “homemade” pies while constantly coming up with new ideas of their own like S’more and Drunken Turtle. They even have special holiday menus so go check out their Valentine’s Day menu before it’s too late. This is a great place to kick off your month filled with sweet treats.
CUPPIES & JOE- A sweet, sweet latte paired with a perfectly iced cupcake, that’s what Cuppies & Joe is all about. Their cupcakes are made fresh daily as well as pies and other delicious indulgences. The coffee comes from Topeca Roasters, which is located in Tulsa, Okla. They also have free wifi so feel free to bring your laptop and do some work or binge watch your favorite Netflix show with their yummy treats.
GREEN GOODIES- For all of you Food Network binge watchers, Green Goodies is a Cupcake Wars winner, so no need to fly out to the coasts to find a Food Network favorite, Green Goodies has got you covered. Green Goodies specializes in meeting your every dietary need from vegan to gluten-free while still maintaining that delicious taste. Daily, they showcase 16 different flavors so be sure to call ahead and see if your favorite is available today. They are perfect for your Super Bowl LI party with a cupcake pull apart cake that features your favorite team or a generic Super Bowl LI cake if you’re watching for the comical advertisements.
BIG SKY BREAD- The perfect mix between crisp and doughy, located off N. Western Avenue in Oklahoma City. Big Sky Bread specializes in European and American breads with cookies to muffins to rolls. Each day of the week, they have different breads that are cooked in their store every day. Stop by and pick up some English muffins to make your mornings taste better.
BROWN’S BAKERY- Brown’s bakery is your full-service bakery with a large variety of all the best sweet treats. The favorite at Brown’s Bakery tends to be their doughnuts with an array of different kinds and some specialty items like the butterfly roll, a cinnamon roll covered in caramel icing. Stop by in the mornings for a sweet treat on Saturday or any weekday located on N. Walker Ave.
