Drink Beer, From Here

What better way to celebrate a second birthday than with a weeklong party? Edmond’s very own craft beer house, The Patriarch, is hosting Oklahoma breweries for the entire week. Come out to support local brewers and musicians. Get ready to toast to two years of business in the gentrified 'Hunt House' in downtown Edmond. All 48 taps are dispensing locally crafted beer, ales, lagers, saisons, blondes, wheats and sours for the extravaganza.

In addition to the celebration, The Patriarch will continue to host local food trucks, musicians and yard games- with a guaranteed two events per day! The food truck schedule is available on The Patriarch website. The classic yard games such as ping pong, bean bags and giant jenga will be available, as always, in addition to some creative options, including a twist on the classic Bingo.

Brad Mullenix, General Manager of the Patriarch says, “The name "The Patriarch" comes from the man who built the 1903 home which we repurposed into a craft beer bar. His name was William M. Hunt, and he was an early leader, businessman and 'patriarch' citizen of early Edmond around the turn of the 20th century." The business as you know it today, however, was inspired by the idea of "Community Through Beer." Mullenix continues, "All five owners of the business are craft beer enthusiasts and home brewers who love sharing a great beer and an even better conversation. We applied this to our business model - devoid of free wifi and meaningless television. We encourage the same when you're here. Our biggest desire is to educate people on great craft beer and promote great conversation with and enjoyment of the people you're with."

As far as events go, The Patriarch works hard to get the community involved with its unique approach to events and operating within the neighborhood. Brad recalls, “I think last year's 'Ale Trail' has been my favorite since I took over as General Manager. We teamed up with the Fine Arts Institute of Edmond next door to us and planned a three-mile run in which you drank a beer after every lap.  There were so many months of planning that went into it, and to see hundreds of people gathered on the streets, enjoying the beer, the bands and the jog, it was ridiculously fun for me.” This two year anniversary will set the bar for upcoming community focused activities.

Mullenix credits the vision, passion and community mindedness of majority owners Steven Russell and Bryce Thomspon with The Patriarch’s two years of success here in Edmond. In addition, Doug Wood, Matt Jones and Brad Mullenix, minority owners, all contribute to the philosophies and concepts that built the craft beer house to what is now.
